Wrongful death: Car crash claims 3 lives

| Apr 14, 2020 | wrongful death

Any kind of car crash has the potential to be a tragic event. When it is caused by the carelessness of one of the drivers, it can be particularly devastating for everyone involved. There are times when filing a wrongful death claim against responsible parties is the best course of action. Police say that a recent fatal crash here in New Jersey was the result of aggressive driving, meaning that civil litigation may be necessary.

Authorities say that the crash happened on a recent evening when a pickup truck driver was allegedly driving in an excessively aggressive manner. They claim the man was cutting around traffic and travelling at a high rate of speed. His truck allegedly struck a minivan, killing three people.

Two of the victims died at the scene of the accident. The third victim, an 8-month-old infant, was rushed to a nearby hospital but did not survive. The driver was given medical attention but has been released from the hospital.

The truck driver was charged with multiple offenses, including three counts of vehicular homicide and aggravated assault. Police also claim that he had suspected controlled dangerous substances in his truck. The driver is currently in police custody and there is no word on a pending court appearance.

Whatever the outcome of the criminal charges this man is facing may be, the families of the victims have other legal options available here in New Jersey. Those who find themselves in a similar situation may want to consult an attorney with extensive experience in wrongful death litigation. A successfully-litigated claim could result in monetary damages that may help a family cope with such a devastating loss.
