High rate of workplace fatalities among truck drivers

The loss of a loved one is challenging to overcome. While death is inevitable, too often, individuals are suddenly killed by the negligence of another person. This can cause surviving loved ones to have many questions, especially when it comes to why it happened and who is responsible. Motor vehicle accidents often cause sudden, unexpected deaths, and some of these occur while the victim is working.

Based on current data, truck drivers and delivery workers had the highest rate of workplace fatalities in 2016 when compared to all other occupations. It was discovered that 918 truck drivers and sales workers died on the job that year in automobile collisions.

Fatal transportation-related accidents are not limited to those who drive exclusively for a living. For people who must drive as part of their job, such as construction or agricultural workers, these types of accidents are considered the most common in their line of work. In fact, transportation accidents were the most common cause of workplace deaths in 2016, accounting for 40% of all deaths that year.

Dealing with the tragic death of a family member can be emotional and overwhelming. Surviving loved ones are often left with many questions, and, in their effort to answer these questions, have determined that a negligent party is to blame for the fatal accident. In these cases, it may be possible to hold the negligent party accountable through a wrongful death action. These claims could help place liability on the negligent party and assist with the recovery of damages for the losses caused by the incident.
